Hi Lance, great blog, just found you through the fast lane forums.

Quick question for you. Whats your criteria for picking stocks? Do you go by what the analysts say or do you have your own research methods?

Quickly looking at QMAR why did you pick this one? I looked at their cash flow statement from 05 – 06 and they had some substantial losses.

Im fairly new to investing in stocks and curious why you picked this?

I use a variant of the CANSLIM formula which looks at various forms of analysis. I originally purchased QMAR in late 06 for around $12 and the price dip on 16 Jan, allowed me to repurchase the stock for around $16.

I have already made a nice return on this as the stock is now back up around $23.

There is also an acquisition going on with Excel Maritime that should prop up the stock further or create some nice spinoff profit.

Hope this makes sense?

Lance
